Abstract
"Red State,"" is a series of fictional pieces that are part of a larger project; a novel-in-progress, also entitled Red State. These pieces tell the story of two childhood friends, Jill Meyer, and Kat Eckert, and the scenes follow the trajectory of their friendship and explore the impact that trauma and privilege have had on their development. Over the course of three decades, the pieces go back and forth in time from the late 80's in Abilene, TX to present day (2016-2017).
