Biographical Synopsis of Interviewee
Born 1920, father was a medical doctor, attended Crockett Elementary and Austin High School in El Paso. Graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, received Army Commission in 1939 in Horse Cavalry Reserves. Was attending Texas A&M when Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and was called to active duty. Served in European theater during WWII and saw action in Italy and Germany. Sustained three wounds.
Summary of Interview
World War II combat experiences; stories of being wounded three times and describes convalescent periods; tells about brief encounters with Gen. Terry Allen; related story of General Allen's problems in Africa with the 1st Division which led to his dismissal and eventual command 104th.
