Biographical Synopsis of Interviewee
The Cross-Cultural Southwest Ethnic Studies Center of the University of Texas at El Paso, with the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities, sponsored this two-day conference. One of a sequence of professional development activities held under the CCSWESC's Interdisciplinary Humanities Program in Border Studies, this conference included U. T. El Paso faculty involved in the study of the Borderlands as well as scholars from other institutions. The purpose of the conference was to assess the need for greater attention to the pressing human problems of the region, discuss the impact of the Border Studies Program at U.T. El Paso both locally and outside the community, and to explore the course that curriculum development and research should take in the future efforts within the field.
