Master's exhibition report with documentation and statement of artistic development and intent
Abstract
Cultural practices involving heritage, family values, and religion reside deep within the worldview of Chicanos. This was a crucial concept in the Chicano Art: Resistance and Affirmation (C.A.R.A.) Exhibition and fit perfectly with the perception I held of my own art. This concept became the major focus for my work. Through the C.A.R.A. Exhibition and continued research I discovered that I was not alone in my search to define myself and to understand the sources of my identity. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
