Hardware design and integration of prototype components for a modularly configurable attached processor (MCAP)
Abstract
Using Altera's Max+Plus 1110.2, a computer-aided tool, it was possible to complete the hardware design of the memory subsystem, the instruction component and integration of the prototype components for a Modularly Configurable Attached Processor (MCAP). The instruction and memory subsystem prototype components had to be designed to become compatible with the routing and processing prototype components previously designed using Altera Hardware Description Language (AHDL). The processor components were designed with limited task; therefore, the integration consisted in having the components perform different scenarios of the same task. Evaluation of the integration consisted in the timing of execution of the algorithm and efficiency of execution by the components.
