Geometric excursions using “Mathematica” and other math software

Thomas Taylor, University of Texas at El Paso

Abstract

The main objective is to visualize geometric objects using mathematics software. The scope of the thesis falls into two categories. In the first category equations of polynomials in two variables of at most degree two are obtained by using symbolic calculations of determinant equations. The equations are then graphed mostly using Mathematica. The second category involves producing parametric representations of lines, planes, and spheres. In this category the equations were done by hand. The graphs were produced using Mathematica and Cyclone.
