Multilevel inverter-based dual-frequency power supply with equal DC sources
Abstract
This thesis investigates a multilevel converter-based dual frequency induction power supply. It discusses the use of multilevel converters for providing induction-heating power at two frequencies simultaneously. This is because induction heating power supplies that can produce voltages at two frequencies simultaneously would speed up the heat treating of workpieces with uneven geometries, like gears. We describe how the switching angles for proper control/operation of this converter can be determined by using the theory of resultant polynomials to output various stepped waveforms with the desired dual-frequency content. We built a prototype converter and developed a real time DSP controller to verify the analytical work. The experimental results are presented as a verification of the analysis.
