The irradicable psychological handicap in the characters of Manuel Pombo Angulo
Abstract
Manuel Pombo Angulo has already gained recognition in Spain through his Journalistic and literary activities. He has already been awarded the prizes "Menendez Pelayo" smd "Premio Virgen del Carmen de Periodlsmo." His novel, Hospital General, won the “Eugenio Nadal” prize in 19^7. In addition he has won the "Don Quijote" award with his novel Valle Sombrlo and the "Premio Nacional de Literatura de 1950" ivith the novel Sin Patria.1 Manuel Pombo Angulo uses his experiences as a newspaperman to produce in his novels a feeling of actuality. His experiences as a war correspondent serve as material for many of his best novels, i.e., Hospital General, La Juventud No Vuelve, etc.
