A comparative analysis of band contest practices in ten different states across the nation
Abstract
This study is a comparative one that allows the reader to observe band contest practices in ten different states across the nation. The categories examined in these band contest practices are philosophical and administrative, choice of musical selections, adjudicator and adjudication standards, and sight-reading procedures. The findings are presented in an objective manner which will allow the reader to compare the similarities and differences between the different states and draw their own conclusions as to which practices are more beneficial to students and educators.
