Linear programing system optimal dynamic traffic assignment evacuation modeling and network transformation using cell transmission model

Abstract

In the year 1994, Carlos F. Daganzo proposed the alternative traffic simulation model called Cell Transmission Model (CTM) and in the year 2000, Athanasios K. Ziliaskopoulos used CTM to formulate the single destination System Optimum (SO) Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA) problem as Linear Program (LP). This thesis enhances the research to propose modified CTM, network---transformation algorithm, and evacuation modeling technique to incorporate city level networks under extreme events. The proposed LP SO DTA evacuation model uses CTM as its tool to solve for optimal destinations, route, time, flow-staging, and flow distribution. The model also incorporates the shelters and has been tested on few example networks. It has also been tested on Dallas Fort Worth Network and compared with DYNASMART-P to draw the convincing results.
