Conducting consideration for selected compositions by Bela Bartok, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Antonin Dvorak
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide a brief history of the life of the compser, his music, and conducting considerations for each composition performed. The recital was given on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall of the University of Texas at El Paso. The program consisted of Bela Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances, movements one through three of Tchaikovsky's Serenade in C Major Op. 48, and the first and second movment of the Serenade for String Orchestra Op. 22 by Antonin Dvorak. The information in this document is not definative rather a guide describing the conductor's personal experience with the music. It contains the processes of score study, rehearsal technique and performance preparation. Conductors may use this as a reference in studying these pieces.
