Abstract
The following article presents an anthropological reflection focused on the current contemporary sociopolitical context in the city of Havana, Cuba. Considering the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the political changes afterward the death of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro in 2016. Methodically, the article is based on a qualitative – ethnographic approach conducted in Cuba and discusses how the daily life of Cubans, overcomes the historical inequality conditions, the lack of opportunities, and others. Lastly, the article presents a reflection on the biggest changes faced by the population, the slow process of economic change, and the social protest that erupted in the streets of Havana in the summer of 2021.
