Borderplex migration analysis

Abstract

Borderplex migration in the region of Juarez-El Paso is influenced by economic opportunities such as employment opportunities and wage levels. Maquiladoras represent a major economic force in this Borderplex area. A net migration methodology is used in this analysis, and an econometric model is proposed. The equation obtained (statistically tested) presents good forecasting capabilities from one to six steps ahead.
