Abstract

In many practical situations, we need to decide whether a given solution is good enough, based on the degrees a_i to which different criteria are satisfied. In this paper, we show that natural requirements lead to the weighted average decision, according to which a solution is acceptable if w₁ * a₁ + ... + w_n * a_n > t for some weights w_i and threshold t.
